The best time to do the Kuari Pass Trek is from December to March for winter treks, when the trail is covered in snow, and from April to June and September to November for pleasant weather and clear views of the mountains.
The Kuari Pass Trek is considered a moderate trek, suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. It involves walking 5-7 hours a day with a gradual ascent, but no technical climbing skills are required.
The highest point of the Kuari Pass Trek is around 12,500 feet (3,810 meters). Altitude sickness is not very common on this trek due to the gradual ascent, but it is always recommended to stay hydrated and take it slow to acclimatize.
Essential items include warm clothing (layering is recommended), good-quality trekking shoes, a rain jacket, gloves, woolen cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, a backpack, and personal medications. If you’re trekking in winter, additional warm gear like thermals and a down jacket is necessary.
Yes, you will need a trekking permit for the Kuari Pass Trek, which can be obtained in Joshimath or through your trekking agency. Additionally, if you are trekking through the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, you will need an entry permit for the reserve as well.
I did Sandhakphu Phalut Trek with Rohit,
Had a wonderful experience with him.
He takes care of all the aspects and had every emergency item carried in his bag pack for all of us (group of 8) including candies too. We heard some of his adventurous stories about his previous treks which made us wanna trek again. Very rarely do we come across youngsters with utmost maturity, principles intact and true to their job. Rohit was all of that. If we do travel soon again, we would definitely contact him to be our leader again.
Thank u Rohit for your perfect leadership and guidance
