The Chandernahan Challenge is a perfect trip with the initial sightseeing of beautiful capital city Shimla and an almost perfect trek. This offers manmade beautiful historical monuments and a beautiful landscape of natural beauty. The trek goes through Pabbar Valley with its starting point from scenic Janglik village. It offers you village, dense forest, alpine meadow, beautiful wild flowers, river, waterfall, lake, bird eye view of the valley, snow capped mountains, what else a trekker needs from a trek. Chandernahan(the sacred lake) and waterfall is among one of the major sources of Pabbar river. In this trek you will hit the maximum height of 13800 feet. This trek is trailer of ultimate Buran pass trek. This trip will be among your one of the unforgettable trips of your life.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Shimla

Arrive in Shimla and check into the respective booked hotels. You can spend the evening for exploring the local markets.

Day 2 : Sightseeing of Shimla

Today we’ll spend the whole day in exploring the historical winter capital of India and the capital of Himachal Pradesh. This city has so many places to visit. In our one day trip we will cover Shimla reserve Forest Sanctuary, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Army Museum, Jakhu Temple, Ridge, Church and Mall Road. It is recommended to purchase all your necessary items from Shimla today itself because tomorrow early morning you’ll have start for Janglik Village and there is not a better market place than Shimla.

Day 3 : Shimla (7435 feet) to Janglik Village (9200 feet), Total Distance- 150 km

Max. Elevation of the day – Janglik Village (9200 feet) Route Detail – Board into your respective vehicles for the beautiful journey. The route goes through Rohru & Chirgaon. You will get to see the beautiful mountains of Himachal Pradesh, rivers, old homes and apple orchards, if you go in apple season. After Chirgaon (the last main market of the route) the road is very bad. The last stretch is along Pabbar river. The whole journey will take around 8-9 hours. Highlight of the day – Janglik Village Accommodation – Homestay Remark – As the whole distance is to be covered by car in mountains so those who has motion sickness please take their respective tablets

Day 4 : Janglik Village (9200 feet) to Dyara Thach (11000 feet), Duration - 5/6 Hrs

Max. Elevation of the day – Dyara Thach (11000 feet) Route Detail – The initial stretch of the trek starts with the gradual climb for about 30 min. then we arrive at a spot from where you can have panoramic view of the village and the river. After that the trails will goes through the dense forest with some steep ascents. Small meadow with a tea stall. The whole route is very photogenic. The path goes in and comes out from the forests. Finally the valley opens into a dreamland with a very wide green meadow and the complete view of Pabbar Valley. This is our destination Dyara Thach. Overnight stay in tents. Highlight of the day – Dyara Thach Accommodation – Tents Remark – The view point is the last network zone. Be very careful with your hydration and nutrition.

Day 5 : Dyara Thach (11000 feet) to Litham (11800 feet), Duration - Approx 4 Hrs

Max. Elevation of the day – Litham (11800 feet) Route Detail – The route starts with a gradual ascend from the camp site for about 40 mins then slowly gets down in the jungle after crossing a small stream and with a small ascend we reach a shepherd spot from where we can locate our destination i.e. Litham, gradual ascend for about 2 hours will take you to the stream near the campsite. From here the view of Chandernahan waterfall is very clear. After crossing the chilled stream we’ll reach our campsite. Overnight stay at camps. Highlight of the day – Chandernahan Waterfall Accommodation – Homestay Remark – Be very careful with your hydration and nutrition.

Day 6 : Litham (11800 feet) to Litham (11800 feet), Duration - Approx 6 Hrs

Max. Elevation of the day – Chandernahan lake(13800 feet) Route Detail – Today is the climax day as we are hitting the last and the highest point of the trip i.e. Sacred Chandernahan Lake. The whole trail is very interesting as we have to cross the previous day stream two times steep walk till the top of waterfall then flat walk till the destination, the sacred glacial lake. The view from the waterfall top is just awesome. After spending some time at the lake we will descend back to the camp site. Overnight stay at the camps. Highlight of the day – Chandernahan waterfall, lake and the bird eye view of valley Accommodation – Homestay Remark – Be very careful while crossing the stream and during the descend from chandernahan lake.

Day 7 : Litham (11800 feet) to Janglik Village (9200 feet), Duration - Approx 8/9 Hrs

Max. Elevation of the day – Litham (11800 feet) Route Detail – Same as that of day 4th and 5th day Highlight of the day – No highlights as we are returning from the same route. Accommodation – Homestay Remark – We have to start early as we are covering two days distance in one day.

Day 8 : Janglik Village (9200 feet) to Shimla (7435 feet) and further to your respective destination.

Max. Elevation of the day – Janglik Village Route Detail – Same as that of day 3 Highlight of the day – No highlights as we are returning from the same route. Remark – Try to start as early as you can so that you reach Shimla by time and start your further journey.

But there are many variables beyond our control like {weather condition,landslides, road condition and any other “force measure condition” or unexpected political unrest, curfews, local riots, government orders, unexpected global health issues} due to which we have to cancel the Trip (Trek/Expedition, etc.) under such circumstances Advait Outdoors will refund 50% of the total amount of the trip or issue a voucher (valid for one year) for the full amount of your Trip (Trek/Expedition, etc.).
